CASE: ABC-Alle Børn Cykler 2007, Dansk Cyklist Forbund
Thursday, December 6th, 2007What do a bunny, a panda, some bicycles, helmets, school kids, and a couple of eggs have to do with one another? A whole lot.
This year we took the reigns of the ABC campaign – gave it a whiff of Ludvig, and a splash of green- and Woohoo! kids are all excited about cycling to school, and maybe winning a huge school party!
We put our fingerprints all over this very good cause.
Everyone thinks Denmark is much like the Netherlands when it comes to transportation on two wheels. Sure the Danes like to cycle too, it’s a flat country, and Danes are just as healthy as the Dutch.
Not so much – it turns out.
The big old Motorist Lobby in Denmark has their feet firmly dug in and have promoted the personal car as the be-all-end-all of personal transportation. In order to get kids on the road, and away from the hospital (with possible problems with their health stemming from not enough excercise) and riding safely in order to get to school on time – The Danish Cyclist Federation runs the ABC campaign. Ride your bike to school. Get your whole class to ride to school! Mark down your trips on the ABC Scheme, and send in your tally at the end of the campaign. The highest tally wins a school party! Other prizes include cycles, helmets, waterbottles, etc.
We took the main character from the game we made together with Subsilo last year, and put him at the head of the campaign. Panda Poul, joined him, and what came out the other end was colour coded posters and brochures, a new website design, and a whole lot of printed matter for teachers and parents. Biggest print job we’ve ever taken on, and we’re proud to say it was all printed by Elbo – the green printers of Jylland.
Keep your eyes peeled for more from DCF in the form of Lys PÃ¥- med Ludvig (about riding with the proper lighting during the dark winter season), VCTA (We Cycle To Work) and ABC 2008!
